Docent-Led Large Group Museum Tour

Docent-led tours for prescheduled large groups are available for $15 per person. Price includes admission to the museum and special exhibits.

School Tours

What better way to learn history than through historical objects? The museum is happy to welcome school-age children both from local schools and home-school groups to tour the museum. The tour includes an expert docent, hands-on activities, and a fun scavenger hunt to keep students engaged and learning.

Guidelines for Student Groups:

The Bastrop County Museum requires field trips to have at least one adult accompany groups of 10 or less. For students under the age of 9, one adult is required for 5 children. No more than 30 students are allowed in museum at one time due to space.
Students must stay with their teacher or chaperone.
Your tour guide will start/operate televisions and adjust the volume as needed. Please do not touch the monitors.
No gum, candy, or drinks may be brought into the Museum
No running or horseplay is allowed in the Museum.
Please do not handle, touch, or pick up objects in the museum or gift shop.
Please do not sit or lean on exhibits
No pens are allowed in the museum. Children will be given pencils for the scavenger hunt.

Group Bus Tours

This is the most popular tour requested by visitors to Bastrop. Guests arrive on a tour bus, a guide from the Bastrop County Historical Society gets on the bus and tells the history of Bastrop’s early families and buildings as the driver drives through the Historic District. The charge for a step-on tour guide is $50 for set-up and $15 per person with an 8-person minimum. This tour generally takes 45 minutes.

Historic Home Tour

Arrangements are made with a local homeowner to tour a historic home. This tour generally lasts 30-45 minutes. Cost for set up is $100 and $10 per person. Call Barbara at 512-303-0057 to reserve a time.

Historic Church Tour

Arrangements are made with a historic church to have a docent-led tour.

Cost is $100 for set-up and $15 per person. Call Barbara at 512-303-0057 to reserve a time.

Historic District Walking Tour

A representative from the Bastrop County Historical Society will take participants on a tour of the historic district.

Cost is $50 for set-up and $10 per person with a maximum of 10 people. Call Barbara at 512-303-0057 to reserve a time.
