A sixth-generation Bastropian, Johnny Sanders has dedicated his life to serving the community he proudly calls home. A graduate of Bastrop High School and The University of Texas, Johnny has spent decades helping shape Bastrop County's future while honoring its past. His service as a Bastrop City Councilman, Bastrop County Commissioner, and Bastrop ISD School Board member reflects a lifelong commitment to public service. Known affectionately by many as "Mr. Bastrop," Johnny has long been involved with the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce and countless community initiatives. His passion for local history, combined with his leadership and willingness to serve, has made him a trusted advocate for preserving the stories, places, and traditions that make Bastrop County unique. Above all, Johnny is a devoted father and grandfather who believes in leaving a strong legacy for future generations. As a Trustee of the Bastrop County Historical Society and a Member of the Month supporter, Johnny's generosity helps the Bastrop County Museum & Visitor Center preserve local history, care for our collections, and provide engaging exhibits, educational programs, and community events that connect people with the stories of our county.
