Getting Here from Austin

The Bastrop County Historical Society's Museum & Visitor Center is just a short drive from Austin, located in the heart of historic downtown Bastrop.

From Austin:

  1. Take TX-71 East toward Bastrop (approx. 30 miles).

  2. Exit onto TX-95 North toward Elgin/Bastrop.

  3. Turn left onto TX-95 N (Hasler Blvd).

  4. Turn right onto Chestnut Street.

  5. Turn left onto Main Street.

  6. The Museum is located at 904 Main Street, Bastrop, TX 78602.​

Parking: Free public parking is available on Main Street and nearby side streets.

We’re just steps away from downtown shops, restaurants, and the scenic Colorado River—perfect for a day trip!
