FAQs

What is the cost of admission?

$8 for the general public. Members, military, veterans, and children 12 and under are free.

How long does it take to tour the museum?

Typically it take guests 30 minutes to an hour to tour the museum.

What hours are you open?

We are open 10 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Saturday.

When is your last entry?

Last entry is 4:30 in order to leave you enough time to fully enjoy the museum.

Are you open on holidays?

We are closed New Year's Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

Are animals welcome?

Only service animals are welcome inside the building.

Can you bring food and drinks inside?

Food and drinks can be brought into the visitor center, but NOT in the exhibit areas.

How do I request research?

You can email our Collections Manager, Heather Bloom, at heather@bchs1832.org. Please include spcific information on what you would like help researching.

How do I donate items to the museum?

Please fill out the Artifact Donation Form.

How do I donate money to the museum?

You can donate money either in person at the museum or through this link.

Can I take photographs or videos inside?

Yes! You can take as many as you'd like. If you post on social media, make sure you tag us! @bastropmuseumvc

What are the benefits of membership?

Depending on the level of membership, you receive a mention on our website, free admission, a discount in our store, access to hundreds of museums through NARM (North American Reciprocal Museum), special invitations to events, and a quarterly newsletter chock-full of history and information.

Is there a museum library?

There is a Research Library which is only available through appointment. Contact our Collections Manager, Heather Bloom at heather@bchs1832.org to set up an appointment, and she will gladly help you.

Is the museum accessible?

The museum is wheelchair accessible. The museum also houses a courtesy wheelchair for patrons upon request.

What museum programs do you belong to?

We belong to the North American Reciprocal Museum program (NARM). This gives you free access to hundreds of museums across North America.
