Bastrop County Museum

Bastrop history is Texas history!

The mission of the Bastrop County Historical Society is to preserve and promote the history of Bastrop County.

​We pursue this mission by offering dynamic historical interpretations and exhibits, actively collecting and preserving Bastrop County's rich heritage, and hosting special events designed to strengthen and unite our community.

The History of the Building

The building itself is a historical structure, having served as a fire and police station, as well as a tax office in the 1930s and 1940s.  Later, the building housed Bastrop City Hall.  Today this historic structure houses the city's Museum and Visitor Center.

Monday through Saturday

Closed Sunday

10 am - 5 pm

Members - Free Admission

Active Military/Veterans - Free Admission

Under 13 years old - Free Admission

Museum Tours

Volunteer docents are ready to provide free tours during the following hours:

Monday: 12:30pm - 4 pm

Tuesday: 1pm - 3 pm

Wednesday: 10am - 2pm

Thursday: 1pm – 3pm

Friday: 12:30pm – 3pm

Saturday: 12:30pm - 3pm​
