About the event
In August 1832, Stephen F. Austin visited the region that would one day become Bastrop County. During his journey, he sampled the native mescalero grapes and recorded in his journal his impression of the Colorado River. “The [Colorado River] is something less than the [Brazos] banks, very high, generally clear of overflow, bottom and banks gravelly, water very clear and well-tasted, current brisk.” Nearly 200 years later, the Bastrop County Historical Society is honoring that moment with a Day of Giving, inviting the community to support the continued preservation and telling of local history.
Community members are encouraged to give at any level—$10, $25, $50, or $100—with all contributions going directly toward the Bastrop County Historical Society’s mission to preserve and promote Bastrop County history.
More details about the Day of Giving will be announced soon. Stay tuned—and help us preserve Bastrop County’s story for generations to come.
