About the event

The Bastrop County Museum & Visitor Center invites students in grades 4–8 to participate in our February Book Challenge, celebrating Black History Month and America 250, the 250th anniversary of the United States.

This month’s featured book is Forge by Laurie Halse Anderson, an exciting historical novel about a young African American boy serving in the Continental Army during the American Revolution. Based on real historical documents and firsthand accounts, Forge brings history to life for young readers.
